Cynthia Villar is a Senatorial Candidate @ No. 32 in the Official Ballot.

Here are 32 VITAL POINTS  to consider when we vote on May 13.


ACCOMPLISHMENTS-

1. Earned a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines, which recently recognized her as one of its Distinguished Alumni. 

2. Completed her Masters in Business Administration at the New York University.

3. Received an Honoris Causa in Doctor in Humanities from Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU).

4. Won in a landslide victory as Representative of Las Piñas to the Philippine’s House of Representatives, where she completed three terms or nine years of service until 2010.
5. Served as chairperson of the Congressional Spouses Foundation from 1998 to 2000.
6Sponsored and led the passage of R.A. No. 9177, An Act Declaring the First Day of Shawwal, the Tenth Month of the Islamic Calendar, National Holiday for the Observance of Eidul Fitr and the Tenth Day of Zhuld Hijja. The Twelfth Month of the Islamic Calendar, a Regional Holiday in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) for the Observance of Eidul Adha, Amending for the Purpose Section 26, Chapter 7 of Executive No. 292, Otherwise known as the Administrative Code of 1987, and for Other Purposes.

As an ENTREPRENEUR -


7. Describes herself as a social entrepreneur.
8. Founded and chaired the Villar Foundation in 1992, where she is now actively involved as Managing Director.
9. Led the passage of bills that benefited entrepreneurs, among which was the Magna Carta of Micro-Enterprises and Republic Act 9178 or the Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs) Act.
10. Believes that entrepreneurship should be integrated in the school curricula from elementary until college.
11. Awarded by Go Negosyo as among the "Women
Entrepreneur Icons and Filipina Entrepreneurs of 2013".
12. Livelihood projects via the Villar Foundation, Inc.- water hyacinth basket weaving, coconet weaving, plastic pulverizing, organic composting, handloom blanket weaving, handmade paper manufacturing, and recently the citronella oil-making - have been replicated nationwide.
13. Provided livelihood to 500+ families in Las Piñas &100+ communities nationwide
14. Spearheaded Manpower on Wheels - mobile livelihood skills training program
15. The success of Villar's green social enterprises has earned for her the moniker ''Misis Hanep Buhay.''

As an ENVIRONMENTALIST -



16. Vocal about her position on the planned 635.14-hectare Manila Bay reclamation project that will affect Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA).  She filed a petition for Writ of Kalikasan on March 16 against the said project.
17. Loves to do gardening if and when she finds the time.
18. River Rehabilitation Programs & Social Enterprises in Las Piñas City is her main project and plans to help replicate it in other cities.
19. Honored by UP Los Baños on 29 July 2011 (her birthday), with her very own unique breed of flower that bears her name, the ‘Hibiscus rosa-sinensis Cynthia A. Villar,’ for her invaluable contributions to public service in her various capacities as legislator, entrepreneur, citizen, leader, and environmental advocate.



As an EDUCATOR -

20. Believes that "When we educate women, we educate a generation.When we provide women jobs, we provide livelihood to a family."
21. As chairperson of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education from 2004 to 2010, she authored and led the passage of 28 bills to improve the quality and accessibility of education nationwide.
22. Vowed to pursue “no permit, no exam policy” on students who failed to pay their tuition on time.

Other ADVOCACIES -



23. Will push for a review of the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act (AFMA).
24. Will pursue the creation of a separate department for Filipino Migrant Workers - the Department of Overseas Filipino Workers (DOFW).
25. Rallied the passage of landmark bills upholding the welfare of women, children, and family such as Magna Carta for Women, Anti-Trafficking of Women and Children, Anti-Violence Against Women, Protection of Children in the Workplace, Juvenuile Justice System, and the two versions of the Senior Citizens Act (2003 and 2010).
26Sponsored and led the passage of R.A. No. 9442, An Act Amending R.A. No. 7277, Otherwise Known as The “Magna Carta for Disabled Persons, and for Other Purposes” 


PERSONAL CONVICTIONS-

27. Pro-Life.
28. No to Divorce.  Pushes for amendments to the Family Code".
29. No to same-sex marriage.
30. No to death penalty.
31. On territorial dispute with China - "Going to war should not be made an option."
32.  Amidst all achievements, awards, recognition from various sectors, her family is her priority - husband Manny and  their three well-raised children.
